Originally published in March 2015, Version 4 of the PHE Defining adult neurological conditions International Classification of Diseases ICD10 code collection was published in April 2021. This collection of codes underpins the outputs produced by the National Dementia Intelligence team part of PHE Health Intelligence division.

The code collection now includes 19 categories and 581 4-digit codes, reflecting ICD10 revisions and wider scope of work, now including dementia and neurovascular.
Originally published in March 2015
Containing over 470 ICD10 (2015) codes. For the purpose of the work of the neurology network, these codes were organised into 16 main condition groups and one additional "catch all" group.
Version 2 published in March 2016
Including 2 additional codes G50.0 and G50.1 to the cranial nerve disorder group. This revision also added metadata, addresses blanks in 'Category Sub-Group' column and added a column with ICD10 codes used in ‘deaths &births’ data.
Version 3 published in June 2020
Including 2 additional condition groups dementia & Alzheimer’s disease and stroke codes (groups 18 and 19) moving codes G310 and G318 from rare to dementia group; expands sections 2 (cranial nerve disorder), 11 (Parkinsonism and other extrapyramidal disorders-tic disorder), 12 (peripheral nerve disorders), 15 (traumatic brain and spine injury) and 17 (Rare and other neurological diseases) to include newly identified codes from G23, G26, G52, G57, G58, G60, G61, G62, G83, G90 sections.
It also removed duplicate 3-digit codes column; introduces a fix code for deaths data in Parkinsonism group G200 which does not exist in ICD10 but appears in data (this was submitted for verification to Office for National Statistics (ONS)).
