Preconception, pregnancy and birth 

Preconception health

• Guidance on Preconception care: making the case includes information, intelligence and tools with evidence-based approaches for how this can be embedded.
• The Report card: indicators of women’s preconception health gives analysis of preconception indicators including wider determinants of health, health behaviours and pre-existing medical conditions. There is also similar information specifically about Preconception health among migrant women in England. 

Teenage conceptions

• The Teenage parent outcomes modelling tool brings together data about factors that affect outcomes for teenage parents and their babies across local authorities in England.
• The Teenage mothers and young fathers support framework should be read alongside this tool as it can help you review support arrangements for young parents in your local area.
• The Sexual and Reproductive Health Profiles support local authorities, public health leads and other interested parties to monitor the sexual and reproductive health of their population and the contribution of local public health related systems.

Perinatal mental health

• A collection of perinatal mental health datasets is available.

Early years

• A best start in life: cost-effective commissioning return on investment tool helps local commissioners provide cost-effective interventions for children aged up to 5 and pregnant women.
• In addition to indicators in the topic, OHID publishes quarterly statistics on breastfeeding. This document includes prevalence at 6 to 8 weeks after birth, which is a comparison of methods used by NHS England and OHID to produce indicators for breastfeeding at 6 to 8 weeks after birth made in 2023.
• There has been experimental analysis of the relationships between breastfeeding and child and maternal weight at small geographical area level.
• There is guidance to support the commissioning local infant feeding services
• OHID publishes quarterly and annual statistics for child development at 2 to 2 and half years. Experimental analysis of the Community Services Dataset to look at inequalities in child development was made in 2021.
• Guidance for local authority analusts the central system for children's public health  0 to 5 years is available. This has technical detail they need to submit aggregate data to the national system which gives data for indicators about breastfeeding at 6 to 8 weeks after birth, health visiting services and child development at 2 to 2 and a half years. A report about metric and outcome definitions for health visitor service metrics using the CSDS has also been published.
• OHID guidance on health visitor and school nurse commissioning includes a service specification for local authorities commissioning health visiting and school nursing services, for children aged 0 to 19.'
• Descriptive analysis of vulnerability in infancy using data from the CSDC was published in 2022.

Young people

• Guidance on Improving young people’s health and wellbeing: a framework for public health is available, for national and local action to address the specific health needs of young people and ensure their future health.
• OHID guidance on health visitor and school nurse commissioning includes a service specification for local authorities commissioning health visiting and school nursing services, for children aged 0 to 19.
• Descriptive analysis of school nursing activity and referrals in 2019 to 2020 using the CSDS has been published.

15-year-olds

• Improving young people’s health and wellbeing: a framework for public health offers national and local action to address the specific health needs of young people and ensure their future health.
• A report relating to wellbeing based on WAY survey data was published in January 2018.

Breastfeeding

• Published statistics on breastfeeding, including prevalence at 6 to 8 weeks after birth are available together with guidance on how to submit aggregate data to the central system.

Oral Health

• There are information and resources to improve oral health and reduce inequalities in England[PC1] .

Unintentional injuries

• Narrative reports for local government on reducing unintentional injuries in and around the home among children under five years and reducing unintentional injuries on the roads present local data alongside evidence.
• The guidance on reducing unintentional injuries among children and young people looks at action areas for local authorities and their partners to help develop injury prevention strategies for children and young people.
