The following indiciators have been updated with 2021 data.
Data prior to 2021 for indicators that use the mid-year ONS populaiton estimates have been temporarily removed as they are no longer comparable with the 2021 time point. These will be recalculated when the backseries rebased 2021 census population estimates are available.
Statistical commentary: March 2023 mortality update
The followings indicators have been updated with 2021/22 data
Smoking prevalence in adults has been updated with 2020 and 2021 data.
Smoking status at time of delivery has been updated with 2021/22 data.
Due to changes to indicators available in fingertips updates have been made to the Inhale profile with some indicators replaced by newer indicators and some indicators removed. See list of indicators for details.
Hospital admissions indicators for median length of stay for asthma, pneumonia and COPD are now available for the periods from 2013/14 to 2020/21.
Indicators showing the percentage of zero and one day emergency for pneumonia and bronchiolitis in children under 2 are now available for the periods from 2013/14 to 2020/21. The bronchiolitis in children under 2 indicator is now available as a single year indicator.
Place of death (care home, home and hospital) indicators for COPD are now available for the periods from 2006-2008 to 2017-2019. Due to the potential impact of COVID-19 on mortality data, indicators are also presented as single years up to 2020 where numbers allow. Trend data have been adjusted to also take into account the changes in cause of death coding software and ICD10 coding making data comparable to the most recent 2020 data.
Hospital admissions data for asthma (under 19 years) are now available for the latest CCG configuration (2021) up to 2020/21. Air pollution (fine particulate matter) has also been updated with data for 2020.
Hospital admissions data for respiratory disease, COPD, pneumonia, asthma (aged 19 years and over) and bronchiolitis (aged under 2 years) are now available for the latest CCG configuration (2021) up to 2020/21. The bronchiolitis data are now available for single years.
Mortality data for COPD (underlying cause of death) is now available for the latest CCG configurations up to 2017-19 and 2020 for single year time periods. The under 75 mortality rate from respiratory disease considered preventable (2019 definition) is now available at CCG level.
Mortality indicators for COPD, asthma, pneumonia and all respiratory disease have been refreshed to include the latest CCG and local authority configurations for 2017-2019 mortality data. 2019/20 data is now available for the indicators; Percentage of adults (aged 18+) classified as overweight or obese and Percentage of physically active adults.
2019 data is now available for the indicator Air pollution: fine particulate matter.
Hospital admissions for asthma in the under 19s has been updated with 2019/20 data.
The QOF based indicator the percentage of patients with COPD and Medical Research Council (MRC) dyspnoea scale ≥3 with an offer of referral to a pulmonary rehabilitation programme for 2019/20 has been added to the profile.
QOF based indicators covering asthma and COPD prevalence, smoking, smoking support services, and indicators for wider risk factors are now updated for 2019/20.
Mortality indicators for COPD, asthma, pneumonia and all respiratory disease have been updated to include the latest 2017-2019 mortality data.
Smoking status at time of delivery has also been updated to 2019/20 data.

Revised hospital admissions indicators for asthma, pneumonia, respiratory disease and COPD are now available for the periods from 2013/14 to 2018/19 using the 2019/20 CCG configuration.
Bronchiolitis (in the under 2s) has been revised to show the 2019/20 CCG configuration and updated to show 2015/16 - 2017/18 to 2016/17 – 2018/19.
