Introduction

These profiles provide an overview of data that are important to general practice patients, such as: how easy it is to get an appointment, what patients think about their practice, and how many staff work at their practice. With a range of visualisations and area options the user can compare any practice within a parliamentary constituency or NHS organisation.

If you're looking for a family doctor or GP, you can check what services they offer and the quality of care you can expect also via the Care Quality Commission (CQC) website.

Where the source data is for GPs, for the mapping of GPs to Primary Care Networks PCNs, currently this epcn file (27th Apr 2023) is used (available from Organisation Data Service (NHS Digital)). Aggregated values based on this mapping may differ from PCN values published from other sources or the previously published PCN values where legal entities have changed in the meantime.

Profiles are generated for all practices that were active in 2021/22 and had a list size of at least 750 patients. It is assumed that a practice is 'active' if there is either a record for it in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and/or NHS digital lists the practice with a list size of 750 patients (as at April 2022), and there exists valid GP patient survey data for the practice for the same year. For details see: Rules for inclusion and list of included practices.
