The health of people in Enfield is varied compared with the England average. Enfield is one of the 20% most deprived districts/unitary authorities in England and about 22.2% (16,670) children live in low income families. Life expectancy for both men and women is higher than the England average.

Health inequalities

Life expectancy is 8.8 years lower for men and 5.7 years lower for women in the most deprived areas of Enfield than in the least deprived areas.

Child health

In Year 6, 27.2% (1,204) of children are classified as obese, worse than the average for England. The rate for alcohol-specific hospital admissions among those under 18 is 16*, better than the average for England. This represents 13 admissions per year.
