Introduction
These profiles are designed to support GPs, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), integrated care boards (ICBs) and local authorities to ensure that they are providing and commissioning effective and appropriate healthcare services for their local population.
In addition to viewing individual practice profiles, you can view summary profiles for PCNs and other higher geographies. Each practice can be compared with an ICB sub-location (formerly CCG), PCN and England.
For the mapping of GPs to PCNs, we are currently using this epcn file (27 October 2023), available from Organisation Data Service (NHS England). Aggregated values based on this mapping may differ e.g. from QOF PCN values or the previously published PCN values where legal entities have changed in the meantime.
Using a variety of graphical displays such as spine charts and population pyramids, the tool presents a range of practice-level indicators drawn from the latest available data, including:
- Local demography
- Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) domains
- Cancer services
- Maternal and child health
- Antibiotic prescribing
- Patient satisfaction
The profiles do not provide an exhaustive list of primary care indicators, but they do allow a consistent approach to comparing and benchmarking across England.

Profiles are generated for all practices in QOF 2022/23 with a list size of at least 750 patients. A practice also appears in the tool if it did not take part in QOF, but had a list size of at least 750 patients (as at April 2023, according to NHS England), and there exists valid GP patient survey data for the practice for the same year.
